Buddy the Talking Starling [via Nina Reznick]
Debbie Bingham nearly left Buddy the bird for dead when she found him on a farm track, near Waimate.
With no sign of life she thought she'd take the dead fledgling into the kindy she worked at to show the children.
But then cradled in Ms Bingham's hand, Buddy's beak opened - he was alive, and against the odds. Now, with a whole lot of love, the little bird is three years old, and is something of a talking point in Timaru.
That's because just like a kindy kid, Buddy the starling is learning new songs, and new words.
Jendy Harper has the story.
